How to Apply — Step by Step

Step 1 — Registration: Click on “New Registration.” Enter your basic details — name, mobile number, email ID, and date of birth. You’ll receive an OTP on your mobile. Verify it. Step 4 — Select Exam Centre Districts: You can choose districts in order of preference for your exam centre. The actual centre is allotted by JEECUP and printed on the admit card.

The Exam — What to Expect
Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT) — online, conducted at designated exam centres

Group A Syllabus — Engineering (What’s Asked)
For the most popular Group A (Engineering Diploma), the exam is based on Class 10 Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry:
Mathematics (50 questions): Number Systems, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, Mensuration. Questions from Coordinate Geometry and Quadratic Equations appear every year.
Physics (25 questions): Units and Measurement, Motion, Force, Work and Energy, Electricity, Optics, Sound. Numerical-type questions are common.

Admit Card — Download in Last Week of April
The JEECUP 2026 admit card will be available at jeecup.admissions.nic.in in the last week of April 2026. You’ll need your application number and password to download it.
The admit card carries your exam date, exam slot, exam centre address, roll number, photograph, and exam-day instructions. Print it. Laminating it is not necessary, but it should be intact — crumpled or torn admit cards occasionally cause issues at centre gates.
Also carry on exam day: One original government-issued photo ID — Aadhaar, school ID, or any other valid document.
No electronic devices, no stationery other than pens provided at the centre. JEECUP is a computer-based test — you won’t be writing anything physically, but you can take rough paper provided at the centre.
After the Exam — Results and Counselling Timeline

What Rank Do You Need for a Government College
This is the question every UP student asks. Here is honest guidance based on previous year closing ranks:
Top government polytechnics in Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra (CSE/IT branches): Closing ranks typically under 500–800 for General category. These seats go fast.
Government polytechnics in district headquarters (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical): Closing ranks usually between 2,000–8,000 depending on branch and district. Mechanical and Civil tend to close later than CSE.
Government polytechnics in semi-urban/rural areas: Many branches close between 10,000–40,000. These are still government seats with regulated fees and decent industry connections in their regions.
Private polytechnics: Accept students with ranks up to 1,00,000 and beyond, depending on the institution and branch.
The cutoff changes every year based on the number of applicants and available seats. The numbers above are approximate. For exact previous year cutoffs by college and branch, check the JEECUP official website after results are declared.
JEECUP vs POLYCET — For Students Eligible for Both
Some students from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh working in UP, or UP students who meet Telangana/AP domicile criteria, sometimes ask about applying to both. In practice, JEECUP and POLYCET serve separate states and separate seat pools.
If you are a Telangana or AP student, your primary option is POLYCET — which is the relevant exam for you. JEECUP is for Uttar Pradesh domicile students. Applying to the wrong exam does not help you get seats.
For UP students, JEECUP is the correct and only route to polytechnic admission in the state.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Selecting the wrong group during registration. Each group has a different syllabus and leads to different courses. Group A is Engineering. Group E is D. Pharma. Group C is for lateral entry (if you already have a 10+2 Science background and want to join 2nd year directly). Read the group descriptions carefully on the official website before selecting.
Entering your name differently from your Class 10 certificate. If there’s a mismatch between your application name and your Class 10 document, it creates problems at document verification during counselling — sometimes resulting in cancellation of allotment.
